Residential Parking Permit Program Application 2024-2025

Applicants must live in a parking permit program area to be eligible for a residential parking permit and visitor permit. Check the RPPP map to see if you live in a permit program area. Visit www.cityofsanmateo.org/RPPP for more information.

Note: Online application works best with Chrome. Other internet browser's may experience technical issues.

Have the following items ready:

1. An email address*

2. A current DMV driver's license for each resident (limit of one permit per licensed driver)

3. A current DMV vehicle registration for each vehicle

4. Proof of residency in a parking permit area for each licensed driver.

  • Acceptable proof of residency includes a current driver's license, current DMV vehicle registration, utility bill, lease agreement, car insurance policy, or preprinted personal check with the resident's name and address in a permit program area.

5. Additional documents required for a company car, leased car, and/or caregivers. See additional instructions in RPPP Policy.

*An email address is required to submit an online application. Bring required document and visit the Public Works Counter located inside San Mateo City Hall (330 W. 20th Avenue, San Mateo, CA 94403) to submit an application without an email address.

    • Acceptable proof of residency documents: Utility bill, lease agreement, car insurance policy, or pre-printed personal check with the resident's name and address in a permit program zone
  5. Additional documents required for a company car, leased car, and/or caregivers. See additional instructions in the RPPP Policy.
